Pain

I light candles and lamps,
Look joyful as always,
But cannot celebrate life,
The way I’d like to.
Because there’s so much pain,
Almost unbearable to watch
Everywhere I look.

Ignorance is a bliss they say,
But what use is ignorance,
When that bliss is a lie,
When you are nothing but blind,
To all that I see.
I see so much pain,
Millions of people crying in pain,
Everywhere I look.

There’s happiness too,
There’s no denying,
But there exists sadness,
The kind that doesn’t go away,
Like a burn that has left its mark,
And there’s just so much pain
Everywhere I look.

There are moments when I don’t hurt,
When I forget about all the pain,
That this world has given.
All the sufferings of people
Vanish away in that instant,
And I melt into your arms
Like it’s a whole new world,
Where Love is all I find
Everywhere I look.
